The Opportunity
The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS) is seeking an inspiring and visionary successor Executive Director to lead our compassionate organization. Building on over four decades of providing specialized client and family focussed end-of-life and grief support, you will guide our dedicated team through the next chapter of hospice care and community outreach in Northern British Columbia. Working in concert with our healthcare partners and community stakeholders, you will strengthen our organizational relationships and reinforce our reputation as a valuable and valued part of the fabric of our community of Prince George and Northern BC.
The Organization
The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society i(the Society) s a not-for-profit organization serving the community of Prince George and Northern British Columbia through the provision of grief and bereavement support services. The Society operates a ten-bed hospice facility, Rotary Hospice House, and an expanding Home Hospice program through a multidisciplinary staff and volunteer team.
In addition, it operates a retail outlet to assist in its on-going fundraising efforts.

The Position
The Executive Director position encompasses the opportunity for you to exercise your leadership and management skills and abilities to the fullest

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan and build on our innovative partnerships (such as our ongoing research and clinical collaborations with UNBC).
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the successful administration of the 10-bed Rotary Hospice House, the expanding Home Hospice program, and community grief/bereavement support services.
- Team & Culture Management: Foster a healthy, inclusive, and trauma-informed workplace culture for our clinical staff, administration, and dedicated volunteers.
- Financial Management: Oversee annual operating budgets and financial reports and secure funding to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
- Fundraising: Lead our philanthropic and successful fundraising initiatives, including our successful retail outlet.
- Community Advocacy: Act as the primary ambassador for the Society, cultivating strong relationships with Northern Health Authority, donors, and the broader Northern BC community.
- Regulatory and Quality Oversight: Championing the Society’s quality of care and facility standards consistent with the letter and intent of Provincial Health standards, accreditation requirements and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business, Social Work) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A professional designation or a relevant Master’s degree would be a desirable asset.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive, leadership experience, with 3 to 5 of those years in a mid to senior role, ideally within non-profit, healthcare, or community-based sectors.
- Proven track record in managing budgets, securing funding, grant procurement, and fund development.
- Strong understanding of non-profit governance, human resources, and employment legislation.
- Experience managing within a labour relations environment
- High level of empathy, sound judgment, and a genuine passion for palliative care and end-of-life advocacy.
Monetary
We offer a competitive salary (Salary Range below) and benefit package commensurate with the opportunity. Professional Development Support and Relocation assistance negotiable.
Salary Range: $132,000 to $163,000

Registered Nurse - Home Hospice/ Rotary Hospice House
Summary of the Role Responsibilities
Rotary Hospice House (RHH)/ Home Hospice Registered Nurses assess, identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care required to assist clients living in the community in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. RNs work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNP Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision, and values of The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society.
Functional Reporting Relationships
- Reports to Nurse Lead and/or Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with Home and Community Care.
- Reviews client status through methods such as reviewing documentation, care plan, client observation, collateral information, and consultation with other members of the health care team.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for clients using a framework for nursing practice. Administers medications, manages basic to complex wounds, catheter insertion (and manages feeding tubes, ostomies, and other medically provided devices). Documents in electronic charting program.
- Contributes to individual care plans through methods such as assessing client problems and needs, planning and prioritizing nursing interventions, implementing interventions and reassessing if goals are not met and modifying plan of care based on evaluation.
- Provides nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, technology and PHC standards and evaluates outcomes, records observations and reports problems and/or changes to designated staff.Provides care according to the BC Centre for Palliative Care symptom guidelines.
- Identifies client and family learning needs and incorporates teaching and counseling into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or makes referrals to other identified resources.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to collegial sharing of information, demonstrating and/or providing guidance on related tasks
- Provides direct nursing interventions for management of crisis and life threatening situations.
- Documents information including assessments, nursing care plans, medication administration, client status and progress, and discharge plans in a computerized environment.
- Participates in nursing orientation and shares clinical knowledge.
- Actively participates in direct patient care.
- Direct Care Aides workflow.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Required Licences, Certificates, and Education
- Registered Nurse with current practicing registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals BCCNP.
- Pallium Canada LEAP Training is required.
- Minimum one (1) year’s recent, related palliative nursing care experience in an acute care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Level 1 First Aid
- Ongoing orientation/training as required.

Dream Home Ticket Seller

The Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society is looking for multiple Ticket Sellers for our Dream Home Lottery. These are part time, temporary positions ending when the lottery sells out. Hours will vary based on operational needs and can range from 8-30 hours per week. Applicants must be 19+ or older and have a valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
As the Ticket Seller, you will be responsible for:
- Selling lottery tickets at assigned locations which may be at community events, retail stores, or at the dream home.
- Balance and reconcile daily transaction reports.
- Clean and ensure the Dream Home is presentable to the public.
- Ensure ticket buyers are in compliance with Gaming Policy.
- Location sellers are responsible for setting up and tearing down their booths/tents on location and returning equipment to the specified location at end of day. This includes carrying up to 30 pounds.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and willingness to engage with the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Show compassion and empathy for people that may share stories and experiences about Hospice and/or grief.

Purpose
As a Volunteer Support Coordinator, you will play a vital role in volunteer engagement; including recruitment/marketing, intake/training, retention/mentorship/support in order to meet the changing needs of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS).
Role Overview
As part of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society (PGHPCS) community programs, you will lead the design and delivery of volunteer learning—organizing in-service trainings, scheduling volunteer shifts, and ensuring every volunteer feels prepared, supported, and confident in their roles. You will spend time at all sites building relationships with our volunteers and ensuring that volunteering is a meaningful experience. You will take part in planning meetings to determine what volunteer vacancies are priorities throughout the year; and will assist the Society in the challenge of filling critical roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Outreach
Lead volunteer recruitment through thoughtful marketing and public awareness campaigns—attracting individuals moved to serve with dignity and continuity. Participate in recruitment fairs/events/opportunities. - Orientation & Placement
Orient volunteers to their roles across programs, including Rotary Hospice House (RHH) and Resale Stores—ensuring readiness and clarity of purpose. - Training Development
Design and implement a comprehensive in-service training curriculum—enabling volunteers to grow in empathy, understanding, and skill; as well as to build connections with each other. This aligns tightly with hospice values. - Scheduling & Communication
Manage volunteer schedules and logistics, facilitating smooth coordination between volunteers and program needs. - Support, Supervision & Team Connection
Provide ongoing mentorship, check-ins, and structured support. Maintain consistent and compassionate communication to nurture volunteer engagement and resilience. - Program Collaboration & Growth

Qualifications:
